TRAVEL

BUS SERVICES

The X2 bus service runs along the A48 (top of the St Hilary lane) between Cardiff and Porthcawl.

The Greenlinks Rural Community Transport has two accessible minibuses, a 9 seater and a 13 seater plus a 7 seater people carrier. The minibuses and people carrier are driven by volunteers, to where and when you want transport.

To book transport call the freephone number 0800 294 1113. Booking 24 hours in advance.

How Greenlinks Works

By paying a £5.00 membership fee you can use the Greenlinks service to request transport for as little as £2.00 for each journey.

To arrange transport, call the freephone number 0800 294 1113 by 12 noon the day before travel.

The Coordinator will call you back at least 24 hours prior to travel to confirm the booking and pick up times. The bus is also available for group hire at a cost of £60.00 for a full day (up to eight hours) and £30 for half a day (up to four hours). The first 40 miles are free and fuel costs 45 pence per mile thereafter.

Just fill in a membership application form and we will send you a membership card and more information.

Cowbridge is our brand new branch, which opened in March 2017. It is fully equipped with a separate operating theatre for routine procedures as well as dental equipment and in house blood machines.

Our Cowbridge team, headed by Robyn Day MRCVS and including qualified veterinary nurse Nicola Isaac and receptionists Jean Rees and Tracy Gocher, look forward to welcoming you and your pet to this, our newest practice.

Emergencies

During working hours (9am - 6pm) please call your local branch on the appropriate number shown on the right hand side of this page.

In an emergency after your local branch has closed call 01656 652751 to speak to our emergency team who will arrange an emergency appointment if required.

Outside of normal working hours some vets use an emergency service provider, someone who will have no records for your pet and may be based some distance away from your regular practice. We aim to provide an excellent local service, and our own ‘in house’ team are available to deal with your emergency 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We really are there when others are not.

Clients should be aware that our out of hours facilities are based at the Bridgend Hospital so it is likely you will be requested to bring your pets to Bridgend for out of hours treatment where they will have access to  24 hour nursing care and will be treated to case completion.

On Sundays and Bank Holidays, for small animal cases which need seeing within 24 hours but do not necessarily require an immediate appointment, we run a discounted emergency consulting session in the Bridgend branch between 10am and 12pm. This service is available by appointment, please ring before 11am. Examples of suitable cases may include pulled dew claws, animals which are lame but not distressed or animals with gastro-intestinal signs but who are well in themselves. Veterinary attention for any animal which is in distress, bleeding heavily, severely depressed, unable to breath properly or is having difficulties with giving birth should not be delayed. For more information or if you are unsure as to whether your animal needs to be seen straight away please call the out of hours team. Full out of hours charges apply at all other times. Animals who have their annual vaccination with Maes Glas Vets are entitled to a £30 discount on the emergency consultation fee.
